XIA is engaged in research areas on input-occupancy-output technique and system complexity modeling. She has authored and participated in over 60 policy recommendations, and has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals. She is currently the secretary general of Society Branch of Climate Finance, Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (CSOOPEM), and also the executive director of Chinese Input-Output Association.

International Review of Economics and Finance is an A-rated journal by the Australian Business School Deans Council (ABDC) and a 2-star journal by the Association of British Business Schools (ABS), also an SSCI journal under Elsevier, focusing on hot issues in the fields of international economics, macroeconomics and financial economics.
